Our Story

We are a husband and wife team, who have developed a love for wine over recent years. We enjoy travelling to different parts of the world to explore wine. Our favourites being Stellenbosch in South Africa, Douro Valley in Portugal, as well as Burgundy, Loire, Alsace and the Rhone regions of France. We have learnt to appreciate many different styles of wine and are keen to share our knowledge and passion with our customers.

Alastair’s (Al) story

Five years ago, I had barely held a glass of wine in my hand, knew nothing of acidity, what a tannin was, or a Riesling from a Shiraz. Like many, I was bamboozled by the array of wines & labels one would find in a wine shop. Then I met my future wife, who has a huge passion for wine, and my own wine journey began.

At the start of 2018, after 25 years as a Finance professional, I decided to leave the Boardroom, take some time out, and to take a serious look at how I may follow my passion and start up an independent wine business. My first step was to enrol on the Wine Spirit Education Trust (WSET) courses. Given the variety of wines I have tasted over the past few years it was no surprise to my friends that I passed the exams with flying colours!!

Teresa's (T) story

I have spent the last 20 years in insurance and have been fortunate to travel the world with my job. This is where my passion for wine all started. Corporate dinners in different cities quite literally opened up a whole new world of wine styles to me. Whilst I still work in insurance, like Al, I have passed my WSET exams and also studied for my Diploma. I still remember how daunting it can be to stand in a supermarket or wine shop trying to decide on a bottle and then just settling for something you know. We plan to offer regular tastings so our customers can try new wines before buying.

Al’s favourites wines include:
Puligny-Montrachet from Burgundy, France
Rieslings from Alsace
Amarones from Italy
Bordeaux Blends from South Africa

T’s favourite wines include:
Chassagne-Montrachet, Burgundy, France
Cremant d’alsace (sparkling wine from Alsace)
Chardonnays from South Africa
